‘Why Is 1 July Not A HOLIDAY?’

Popular Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo has having a hard time comprehending why 1 July which as always been a public holiday since time immemorial is not a holiday in 2019.
The actor took to his Twitter handle to ask his numerous followers, and as usual, he received several answers made up of the good, bad and ugly.
“I thought today was a public holiday. Wha happened? 😩”
1 July which celebrated as Ghana’s Republic Day under previous governments was canceled by the current NPP government as it revised all the public holidays in the country. As a result, AU Day which is celebrated on 25 May, as well as the Republic Day (1 July), were canceled.
As part of the revision, 7 January (Constitutional Day) and 4 August (Founders Day) were made public holidays.
