Teenage Pregnancies and Free SHS - Mr Otokunor

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagship free Senior High School policy, which has been plagued by some ineffectiveness, has become the main target of ‘exploitation’ by the biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Adding to what appears to a comic jab to the program being championed by the incumbent government, the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Peter Boamah Otokunor has alleged that the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy has increased teenage pregnancies and malaria in the country.
In a radio interview with Adakabre Frimpong Manso on Neat FM, Mr. Otokunor responding to media reports that Ex. President Mahama will abolish Free SHS if elected into office, denied the allegation.
He debunked the rumour by adding his party is only raising the red flag on the poor handling of the programme. According to him, the lack of infrastructure has forced the NPP government to resort to double-track system.
He said because of the double-track system, students are idling around and getting pregnant and infected with malaria.
The NDC government, if elected to power in 2020, will cancel the double-track system, Otokunor adds.
